How to connect Vantage to MT5 on a VPS (step by step)

Last updated: September 2026

Connecting a Vantage account to MetaTrader 5 takes a few minutes once you know which server and which password to use — the two things that cause almost every failed login. This guide walks through it on a VPS, how to confirm the connection, and how to keep your EA running when you disconnect.

Before you start: what you need

MT5 login number

In your Vantage account-opening email and the client portal.

Trading (master) password

Not your client-portal password, and not the investor password.

Exact server name

Shown next to your account in the email and client portal. Live and demo accounts use different servers.

Step by step

  1. 01

    Connect to your VPS

Open Remote Desktop (Windows), Windows App (Mac) or the Remote Desktop app on your phone, and sign in with the IP and password from your fxVPS.io welcome email.

  2. 02

    Open MT5

MetaTrader 5 is pre-installed on fxVPS.io. You can use it as-is, or install Vantage’s own MT5 from the Vantage client portal — both connect the same way.

  3. 03

File → Login to Trade Account

Enter your MT5 login number and the trading (master) password.

  4. 04

    Choose the server

Pick the exact server from your email. If it is not in the list, go to File → Open an Account, type “Vantage” in the search box, select your server, then choose to connect with an existing trade account.

  5. 05

    Confirm the connection

The bottom-right corner of MT5 shows the connection speed in milliseconds and your account appears in the Navigator. From an fxVPS.io server in Hong Kong you should see low single-digit milliseconds to Vantage.

  6. 06

Attach your EA and enable Algo Trading

Drag the EA onto its chart, allow algorithmic trading in its settings, and make sure the Algo Trading button on the toolbar is on (older builds call it AutoTrading).

  7. 07

Close the window — don’t sign out

Close the Remote Desktop window with the X. Signing out of Windows ends your session and stops MT5 and your EA.

Why run Vantage on a Hong Kong VPS

Vantage runs trading servers in Hong Kong. From our Hong Kong data centre we measure about ~2ms to Vantage with MT5 — against the 100–300ms typical of home broadband in Hong Kong, where the route runs through your ISP. For EAs and fast entries, that gap shows up as slippage.

Measured, not guaranteed: latency depends on the server your account is assigned to.

Frequently asked questions

What is my Vantage MT5 server name?

It is account-specific. Find it next to your account in the Vantage account-opening email or client portal. Live and demo accounts use different servers.

Do I have to download Vantage’s own MT5?

No. Standard MetaTrader 5 connects to Vantage by searching for its server. Vantage’s version simply has its servers pre-listed.

Can I run several Vantage accounts on one VPS?

Yes. Each MT5 installation logs into one account at a time, so run a separate MT5 copy per account. Size the plan by how many terminals you run.

Will my EA stop if I close Remote Desktop?

No, as long as you close the window rather than signing out of Windows. Signing out ends the session and stops MT5.

Is fxVPS.io affiliated with Vantage?

No. fxVPS.io is an independent VPS host and is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by Vantage.
