IC Markets isn't in Hong Kong — so why use a Hong Kong VPS?
We will not pretend otherwise: a VPS cannot beat physics. Your order still has to travel from Hong Kong to Singapore or Tokyo, and that leg costs a few milliseconds no matter who hosts you. What a Hong Kong VPS removes is everything else — the ISP hops, the congested residential routing, and the latency spikes that appear exactly when a news release moves the market.
For most IC Markets strategies that trade-off is comfortable. If you run EAs that must stay online through the Asian and London sessions, the uptime and the stable 5ms matter far more than the 3ms gap to a Hong Kong-hosted broker. About 5ms, measured with an MT5 terminal from our Equinix HK1 instance to IC Markets Asian trading servers in Singapore and Tokyo. We do not claim 2ms for IC Markets — that figure applies only to brokers whose servers are physically in Hong Kong.
Is 5ms good enough for running EAs on IC Markets?
For the large majority of EAs, yes. Most automated strategies are far more sensitive to downtime than to a few milliseconds — an EA that misses a signal because a home PC slept costs more than 5ms ever will. Very high-frequency strategies are the exception and are worth testing on your own account before committing.
